Honest diapers review

So as much as I love my cloth diapers there are times when I need to use disposables. When I travel I often take both cloth and disposables because no one wants to be stuck on a plane with
out enough diapers and disposables take up less space. I have been buying 7th generation since I like their products and they are ecofriendly.

We are set to switch daycares in July and the new daycare does not allow cloth. I feel lucky we were able to use cloth at our current daycare and have been preparing myself for having to use disposables during the day. I started investigating products and came upon The Honest company at honest.com. The company was started by Jessica Alba after her babies were born. The diapers are free of any bad things and a great price. I sent off or my free samples and love the adorable designs. They feel better than most disposables. I will give them a try over the next few days and let ya know what I think.

A few things about the company that I already like are they donate to families in need and the different options for buying diapers (they also offer other Ecoproducts) such as a monthly subscription. Part of the reason I love cloth is never having to run to the store. Just do a load of laundry. I have joked lately I feel like the entire college campus has dumped their laundry at my door- but that was more vacation catch up laundry than diapers.

So check the company out. I'll let ya know what I think but I am truly thrilled that people like me who try to live a little more green are starting to get some good options. Guess Kermit was wrong, it is easy being green.

Cheers

Update:

I was pretty impressed with the diapers. We had a few leaks but even in Ocoee's cloth diapers this can happen. I think the thing I liked most, other than the environmental factor, was the diapers felt like good to the touch. They had a silkier and stronger feel than others we have used. Price wise they are about the same as the 7th generation disposable that we normally use when not using cloth. The downside is you can often get the 7th Generation on sale at store for crazy deals, where these are sold via the internet so harder to get a deal. I do love some online shopping (so much easier than running to the store) and delivery to your door is pretty awesome. We will most likely do an order to get Ocoee started at her new daycare but if we see other eco-friendly ones on sale will stock up to save the money.

Cheers

  1. Pregnant AK Momma here - Is it worth the shipping cost they charge to ship up here? I saw $30 extra for AK on their website!!

  2. Sorry this has taking me so long because I was debating this as well. I didn't have to pay shipping the first time I ordered due to a promo that was going on. I will say that these are the only diapers that are biodegradable. After some research I found out that Seventh and the other eco-friendly ones are completely...so they will end up in a land fill. But shipping that high is crazy! I am going to write the company and see if this can change. They are great diapers with no guilt for the environment, but I am spoiled to my amazon free shipping.

  3. I would pay that much for shipping... I would not be happy about it but I would. My son had a horrible diaper rash ever since he was a day old from using other diapers. Earths best and seventh gen claim to be better but they never made his rash even a little better. Turns out they still have chemicals. It says it right on the package they just claim to have less. After getting the trial my sons rash went away the next day. So after 5 weeks of a horrible painful rash I was furious to find out that there are chemicals in the diapers I was paying so much money for. Honest is a great company! They also listen to customers and try to have a better product. The wipes were AWFUL because they were so thin. People told them and they changed it, now they have the best wipes I have ever used. I could never go back to huggies after using them.

  4. Marina that is awful about your son's rash. I am concerned because we are using 7th at daycare only and cloth at home. I went to Honest again yesterday to order, but the Alaska price being $30 seemed so stiff so I cancelled the order. I am thinking if I do a big order it would be worth it but I am concerned she will grow out of the size if I stock up too much. I am going to talk to my daycare and see if they would do gdiapers since they have inserts that throw away (actually you can flush them) they are disposable...I am not sure if they use the same chemicals....I will have to do some research. I just hope Honest will listen and make Alaska shipping a bit cheaper. Amazon ships for free here so I know it can happen.

  5. Was neat to find this page! I had been looking all over for a more healthy disposable diapers, and after ruling out 7th generation and basically everything else, I found the honest diapers.
My baby is due in late January/Early February 2013, so I have some time to decide, but I to was put off by the shipping.
I even wrote them to see if they would just USPS them but they told me they ONLY use fedex, so if I want to try them/use them I am just going to have to suck it up and pay the shipping. Which I very well may do. I will at least order 1-2 packs and some wipes to see how they go.

We have some cloth diapers (real nappies brand) and they are supposed to be good. They use them in New Zealand maternity wards, and since that's where my husband is from, and they have better regulations on baby products, we went with them.
Will be my first cloth diaper experience, will see how it goes!

    1. It will be great. Especially in the beginning when you change the diaper so often you will see the how much waste (money and landfills) cloths saves. Very little yuck factor. I think if people knew how easy it was it would be a bigger trend. We had two daycares that would do cloth but her current one does not. Still sorely disappointed with the shipping from honest. Another option is gdiapers with the flushable, biodegradable inserts.....we liked them ok and used for awhile but daycare won't do these either. The main advantage with disposables when traveling is less bulk that cloth. Buy all clothes a bit bigger if you cloth since the "junk in the trunk" from cloth takes up more space.
